"I appreciate the opportunity to learn and experience another place and culture alongside students."

Having been to 2 different countries with our undergrad/graduate communication sciences & disorders student students and one word that comes to mind is consistency. The educational and cultural learning, the opportunity to interact with people in the community, and the personalization of the programming to our specific goals while demonstrating professionalism and care for our team in all aspects.

Student feedback from our 5 trips has also been consistent, with students noting the experience is the most memorable of their college years, the passion for our field is ignited in them, and their clinical adaptability and independence improves. I appreciate the opportunity to learn and experience another place and culture alongside students, and their enthusiasm during and after the trip is what motivates me to continue offering the trip each year to our students.

"The best experience I have had, by far, was choosing to participate in this program."

Being a third year undergraduate SLHS student at the University of Texas at Austin has introduced me to a plethora of new and exciting things, but the best experience I have had, by far, was choosing to participate in this program. By going to Chiang Mai Thailand for two weeks, I learned all about a new culture and even more about the world of AAC, through designing and participating in a two-day long camp. If you are looking for a program to safely travel, have an amazing time, make great connections, and gain experience, SLP Abroad is the right place for you!

"My experience in Dominica was truly eye-opening and deeply rewarding."

My experience in Dominica was truly eye-opening and deeply rewarding. Not only did I gain valuable clinical and cultural experience, but I also learned just how underserved the community is, with only one SLP available to support the entire island. That really opened my eyes to the importance of expanding access to services and reinforced my passion for working in global, underserved settings.

I especially loved being able to work with the kids and adults, connect with families, and collaborate with local professionals. It pushed me to think creatively about how to provide therapy when resources are limited and reminded me why I chose this field in the first place.

"Throughout my entire experience, I can’t say a single negative thing."

Throughout my entire experience, I can’t say a single negative thing. Everything was meticulously planned, and I felt incredibly safe throughout the trip. Personally, I went on the Bulgaria and Greece trip this past summer, and it exceeded my expectations. I gained hands-on experience, collaborated closely with licensed professionals, and oversaw various aspects related to speech-language pathology, including the use of AAC devices and swallowing evaluations. I couldn’t recommend it enough!
